Clare Collins
Growing up on a dairy farm, Clare would ride anything with four legs on the farm. It wasn’t until the age of 8, that Clare got his first pony which he purchased alongside his father at auction. Clare’s most memorable coach was Canadian Olympic Dressage Coach, Ed Rothkranz, who rode on both the German Jumper and Dressage teams.
At the age of 25, Clare became a professional rider and trainer of hunters, jumpers and dressage horses. and a catch rider for various owners.
Clare’s skills and knowledge, as well as his coaching style inspire and motivate his students. They will meet and exceed their goals, whether it is winning in the equitation ring, having the Champion Amateur Hunter at The Royal or winning a pony championship at a local show, or jumping up to local Grand Prix.
Clare’s proudest moment have been developing along with his wife Nancy, their daughter to winning classes and a championship at The Royal Winter Fair.
Nancy Collins
Nancy started riding at the age of 8, and has been an avid equestrian since. Nancy has trained and competed with several top riders and trainers, such as Bobbie Reber, Gary Zook and Frank Madden. Nancy is an accomplished rider who has showed successfully in various equitation divisions and up to the 1.45 m jumper, and holds an ‘r’ jumper judges card.
In each training session, Nancy works towards having each rider create and improve effective communication between horse and rider.
This positive approach to coaching enables each rider to leave the training session with a big boost towards the next level of achievement, whether it’s ponies, hunters, jumpers or equitation. Nancy’s students have won equitation and hunter championships from a provincial level to the Royal Winter Fair. A few have gone on to ride professionally and some have moved on to work with Beth Underhill and Eric Lamaze.

What our Clients are Saying
When I first met Nancy I was only 13. She introduced me to the jumper ring on her horse Archie and from then on I was hooked. She taught me the fundamentals of riding correctly and working with any type of horse both in the saddle and on the ground. Fast forward 25 years, I've had the opportunity to reconnect with Clare and Nancy. It hasn't been easy getting back into lessons but because of my original foundation I have been able to pick up where we left off. Thanks to Nancy I have begun working towards getting back into the show ring. I have so much more to learn from her and her team at Glendon Stables.
